How is the Air Quality in Your Home?

Oftentimes homeowners and businessowners alike keep their HVAC systems in mind; if its functioning properly, when to change the filter, and how to follow a proper maintenance schedule. These are great to keep in the forefront of your mind, one aspect that is often overlooked is INDOOR AIR QUALITY. The air we breathe should be clean, fresh and free of airborne contaminants. We’ve found that most customers are unaware of the contaminants that are lurking in their HVAC systems and throughout the air circulating throughout their homes. Brevard Cooling and Heating has over three decades of combined experience, offering the very best in HVAC and air air quality solutions in Brevard County.

How is the Air Quality in Your Home?

Did you know that your central cooling and heating system moves approximately 1 million cubic feet of air throughout your home every day? Even with all that airflow, the system actually creates the perfect breeding ground for bacteria, viruses, biological growth, dirt and dust accumulation and more. In fact, dirt, dust and microorganisms in your HVAC system can shorten the lifespan of your equipment and unnecessarily increase the cost of your utility bills. When the air conditioning system isn’t cleaned regularly, or the proper air filter is not used, the airflow will slow down, which causes the entire system to work harder to do the same amount of work. Without proper filtration and regular maintenance, the biological growth has nowhere to go (besides into your lungs, bloodstream, and respiratory system). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) speculates that the air inside your home can be 2-5 times lower quality than the air outside of the home. This isn’t good for the residents of the home, especially for those who suffer from various ailments:

•Asthma
•COPD
•Respiratory Issues
•Allergies
•Seasonal Allergies
•Auto-Immune Disorders
•Immuno-compromised Individuals

What can I do to Improve the Indoor Air Quality of my Home?

In addition to ongoing maintenance we recommend good air filtration in combination with a high-output UVC lamp. The high-output lamps offered by Brevard Cooling and H eating are the most powerful residential UVC lights available on the market. Our lights are touted for producing the highest kill rates and highest sterilization available. A great addition to your defense against the Coronavirus and COVID-19 infection, among other viruses and bacteria. In addition to UVC lights we offer and highly recommend Polarized Media Air Cleaners, which have the ability to remove even the smallest submicron particles that are invisible to the naked eye. Lastly, another great product to improve the air quality of your home is Time-Release Drain Pan treatments. Your HVAC system contains a condensate drip pan, it holds the moisture that is removed by the indoor cooling coils. This standing water becomes slimy and creates an environment for bacterial and biological growth. The growth and slime that accumulates can cause water to overflow, leading to costly water damage and unpleasant odors. Time release drain pan treatments are like tablets that are placed directly into the drain pan, between the coil and drain opening and intercepts the path of water to the drain. Keeping the drain pan free of slime, odor and growth will prolong the life of your system, and ensure the air you and your family is breathing is clean.
